Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.
Teasing:
Everyone is having fun
No one is getting hurt
Everyone is participating equally
Conflict:
No one is having fun
There is a possible solution to the disagreement
There is an equal balance of power
Rude:
Someone says or does something unintentionally hurtful
It is an isolated event (it doesn't happen often)
Mean:
Someone is being hurt on purpose
There is a reaction to a strong feeling or emotion
It is an isolated event (it doesn't happen often)
Bullying:
Attacked physically, socially and/or emotionally
There is an unequal balance of power
It has happened more than once over a period of time
Someone is being hurt on purpose
