Important Notes and Reminders

THURSDAY, MARCH 12: Student devices are coming home today for ALL students per district administration request regardless if students have insurance or not. IN THE EVENT Liberty Public Schools is closed for an extended period of time, students will be prepared for flexible learning days. Liberty Public Schools will keep us all posted.

Leadership Notebooks: If you haven't already, be sure to empty out all of the graded work in your child's LEARNING section of their Leadership Notebook. Be sure to send these back when we return from spring break, as we'll be ready to put in work for 4th quarter!

MAP Testing: Our testing dates have been finalized! Please be mindful of the following dates, and avoid scheduling appointments for your child these mornings. English Language Arts (ELA): April 13, 14, 15 and Math: May 4, 5. More information will be coming soon regarding the MAP Test!

MAP snacks: Since this is the first time students are taking the MAP test, I would like to have a snack for them each day of testing for your child to enjoy. If you are able to donate one or more items on THIS LIST, please put your name in the box. We have 26 students who will be taking the MAP test, so please keep that in mind when purchasing items. If you are unable to donate at this time, I completely understand! Thank you for supporting our classroom as we take this very important test!

Famous Missourians/Wax Museum: When we return from spring break, we will be starting our Biography Unit! Students will get to choose a famous Missourian to research, and then eventually dress up and "become" that person for our 3rd Grade Wax Museum! More details on Wax Museum later, but if you would like to help your child start thinking about someone they may be interested in learning about, please look through these websites: Historic Missourian OR Famous Missourians - State Website. To be considered a famous 'Missourian,' they either need to have been born in Missouri or lived in Missouri at some point in their life.

Math: Module 5: Fractions. We will be finishing up Fractions with our test on Friday, March 27th. Homework packets will be due that day! Fractions prove to be a difficult concept for 3rd graders, as it's the first time for many of them to be exposed to them. I highly suggest working through the packets at home throughout the module to reinforce the skills taught in class! Continue reviewing flashcards at home, as we won't be dedicating as much time in class to practicing their facts. We are continuing to take Mad Minutes for students to show their mastery.

Student-Led Showcase: Student Showcase will take place NEXT WEEK on Monday, March 9th and/or Wednesday, March 11th! Monday is more informal, as your child will take you through stations in our room and school showcasing their learning. In addition to our Showcase on Monday, March 9th, this year we are offering individual student led conferences on Wednesday, March 11th, as needed. If you are interested in signing up for an individual time for conferences in addition to the Showcase, please contact me to schedule a time that works best for you on Wednesday evening. I encourage you to bring your child for this student-led conference.

Book Challenge Party: If your child has read 30 CHAPTER BOOKS, we will be having an ice cream party on Thursday, March 12th during lunch! The deadline to reach 30 books to attend this party will be on Monday, March 9th. Keep in mind, your child must read and log 40 CHAPTER BOOKS by the end of the year in order to attend the pizza party.

Science City Field Trip: Our field trip is next Tuesday, March 3rd! Please be sure your child arrives to school on time, as we will be loading the buses at 9:20 immediately after taking attendance. Your child will need to wear tennis shoes, their class shirt, and bring a sack lunch with their name on it. If they ordered a lunch from the cafeteria, it will be ready for them first thing in the morning. We will arrive back to KB around 2:15. Looking forward to a fun day of learning and exploring at Science City!

Leadership Notebooks: Coming home this weekend! Please review the work inside with your child. A few students have work they need to redo at home and return to school. Then, be sure to sign and send it back with your child on Monday. Thanks!

Please review the work inside with your child. Then, be sure to sign and send it back with your child on Monday.

Valentine Party: Thank you so much to all the parents who signed up to bring in items for next week! Click HERE to view the items. It is requested that all items be brought in at least two days prior by Tuesday, Feb. 11th.

Valentine Boxes/Bags: HERE is our class list for addressing Valentine cards. Your child may choose to make a Valentine box. This is optional and would need to be done at home. Unfortunately, we will not be able to devote any classroom time for this activity. The Valentine box will need to have a slot so students can easily deliver their Valentine cards. Other than that, creativity is key! Please do not send the box/bag to school until the day of the party, Thursday, Feb. 13th. If you are unable to make one, I will provide a paper bag on the day of the party for your child. We have 26 students. Please let me know if you need another hard copy of this list.

Spelling: Unit 23: single syllable homophones. Tests will be uploaded to Seesaw on Fridays.

PBL: Matter and It's Interactions. *We will be taking a test over the MLK book we've been reading on Monday, 1/27. This was originally scheduled for Friday, 1/24 on our snow day. Students should have brought home their packet to review. Especially look over the vocabulary!
