The Fab Lab at Licking Heights is a workshop funded through a Facebook grant. Currently in the lab we utilize technology and machinery to fabricate ideas and solutions. Here, we can create merchandise for the students and teachers, signs promoting school events, stickers, graduation banners, and much more. When students are not fundraising we are exploring STEAM.
Though the attention goes straight to the machines, the focus is on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). Students explore how the machines work (Science/Tech), the design process (Engineering), digital design software (Art) and measurement conversion, time and money (Math), as well as designing original items (art). This is just one example of how we explore STEAM in the lab.
