Mr. Race is an amazing teacher here at Kenmore West who has been teaching science courses such as Chemistry in the Community, Regents Chemistry, and Honors Chemistry for 34 years. I have Mr. Race for Chemistry Honors this year, which has definitely been the hardest class I've taken so far in high school. However, despite teaching such a challenging course, Mr. Race finds ways of teaching, such as using humor and occasional hands-on lessons, to keep his students engaged. Mr. Race is always willing to help out his students and he makes it very obvious that he wants all of us to succeed. He goes above and beyond to help his students understand the topics he’s teaching so much so that he is often staying after school a couple hours longer than he needs to, multiple days a week, just to see his students excel. Mr. Race is an incredible example of what a passionate and hard-working character should look like, and I believe that anyone who has had the pleasure of taking one of his classes should be grateful for such a caring teacher on their side, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it is needed.
Additionally, Mr. Race has so much school spirit and enthusiasm and attends many plays, sporting events, musicals, and concerts! His commitment and contribution to our school is truly unmatched, which has a very positive impact on the students and staff here. This is why when my graduating class was in need of a class advisor, Mr. Race stepped into the position and I am grateful that ever since he has taught all of us cooperation skills and great leadership. Unfortunately for us, Mr. Race is retiring from teaching at the end of this year but I felt like his outstanding efforts and accomplishments in his many years here had to be acknowledged before he was done. So finally, thank you Mr. Race for everything on behalf of all your students, we really appreciate it!
