For the March Edition Teacher Spotlight of the Blue Devil Beat, I had the pleasure of interviewing my school counselor Mr. Pinti. Mr Pinti is an amazing counselor here at Kenmore West who is always there if you need help or just someone to talk to. He helped make my transition from middle school to high school last year much smoother and is someone I can confide in when things get difficult.
Mr. Pinti grew up in New Mexico but moved when he was about seven or eight years old. He lived in Clarence for a while and attended Clarence High School. After graduating high school he went to Fredonia College for music, which didn't work out so he took a year off. He decided to go back to college and studied communications at Niagara University. He ended up graduating with a degree in communication studies and went on to get a graduate degree in school counseling. Before deciding on school counseling, there were many other jobs he was interested in such as a sports journalist, a filmmaker, or a horror fiction writer. He decided to become a school counselor because he loves to work with kids and wants to make a positive difference in their lives.
Mr. Pinti’s favorite part of working with students is being able to be there for them in their trying times as well as their successes. His favorite part of Kenmore West is the number of opportunities given to students across all grade levels and learning styles. When asked if he has any advice for students, he responded: being kind to one another because you never know how much your kindness can have an impact on someone's life. He also recommended to see your counselor if you ever have questions or feel you're falling behind.
In his free time, Mr. Pinti likes to play guitar, hang out with friends, write horror fiction, and overall stay busy. He got into writing because he loves to read and decided to try to write some of his own work.
Overall, Mr. Pinti has made a huge impact on my life for the better and you can tell he genuinely cares about the students of West. If you have any questions for him, visit him in the counseling office!
