Join the Community Club on December 9th to participate in their annual Community Club Holiday Party. This club works together to provide a day of crafts, games, gifts, and even a visit from Santa for children who are in need from around the area during the holiday season. The club advisors are Mrs. Reidell, Mrs. White, and Mr. Welgoss. These advisors also wish to bring back old events that were once held in the spring in order to provide more service opportunities throughout the year. This club was started over 35 years ago by a group of students who were inspired to serve their community with their peers. These students asked their teachers Barb Heller and Ken Feltges to be advisors, and the club was born.
Since October, Community Club members have met to plan the special day which includes wrapping gifts and planning the crafts. Even if you have not helped after school, you are more than welcome to sign up and participate on the event day; there is always so much to do! Talk to Mrs. Reidell to sign up to run a game, craft station, or sing Christmas carols.
Community Club is a great opportunity to serve and bring joy to the Ken-Ton area. This environment allows leaders to rise above and gain problem-solving skills you can’t get in your everyday school life. Mrs. Reidell says that her goal is to bring joy not only to the children and the community but to the students who volunteer. Trying new things can lead to discovering something you are truly passionate about and serving the community is something many students at Kenmore West are passionate about. After volunteering for this event, several students often feel inspired to continue serving and find new ways to bring joy into the community.
“Core memories” as Mrs. Reidell says are what are built during these events every year. There are over 50 students who participate and the memories you make together are irreplaceable. Do not miss out on this amazing opportunity to grow as an individual and bring joy into the world.
