As the cold weather begins, hockey players are picking up their sticks, lacing their skates, and hopping back onto the ice. At Kenmore West, our boys' and girls' Varsity teams have already returned to the rink to begin their seasons.
The Kenmore West boys’ team opened the season with a 3-1 win over Gates Chili. The boys played well with Macen Pobega, Matteo Cassillo, and Connor Kompare all scoring goals. Cam Carrol had a good game in net, making 22 saves to pick up the win. The boys would lose their next game to a tough Hilton team with Bryan Lansing scoring their only goal.
The Kenmore Grand-Island Lockport girls' hockey team has achieved a strong start with a 3-win and 1-loss record. They started their season with a 3-1 win over CASH before facing a heartbreaking defeat against St. Mary’s. They would go on to win both of their next games against HHEWS and FFLOP. Erin Krawczyk currently leads the team in goals with 3 while Madelyn Jagwow leads in assists with 5. Ella Johnston has played strong in the net with an 89% save percentage. Our school's very own Isabelle Bourgeault has 3 points with 1 goal and 2 assists. Madeline Marzec has also helped the team with 1 assist.
The hockey season has only just started and both teams are off to promising starts. Come out and support our teams in their upcoming games!
