Have you ever been to a Kenmore West Hockey game? I haven't yet but was curious to see what it was all about. So I thought, what better way to find out about the Blue Devils than to sit down with our very own defenseman, sophomore Joseph Aiello?
I sat down with Joseph with so many questions. How do they prepare for the season? What were the games like? What does he think about the games? Joseph told me they spend a lot of time on the ice, with many practices to bond the team and prepare for the season. Their goal is to get better as a unit moving on for next year, build their team, and score a lot of goals. He said his favorite parts of the hockey season are the student section and playing their rivals. Joseph also mentioned that the games are very exciting with loud crowds and lots of action throughout the game.
With a motivating team, the coaching staff must be amazing. Aiello told me that Coach Llyod is always checking in on him personally and as a team, helping him to improve.
Joseph said that it's really fun to be part of a school team because when school spirit is high, it makes the experience better. When I asked him what he wanted students of West to know, Aiello said, "Come to the game. Bring your friends, it will be fun. It makes us do better when we have a lot of people there."
Check out the hockey schedule and get to a game soon. You can track their season and get the newest updates by following @kenmorewesthockey on Instagram. Their next home game is Saturday, December 30th at 6:30 pm at North Buffalo Ice Rink. Let’s show our devil spirit for the KW hockey team this winter.
