This year both the girls' and boys' cross country teams had outstanding seasons. On the girls' side, they had one of their best records yet, finishing the season 7-1. The boys also sustained an impressive 7-1 record. Throughout the 4 Tri Meets, junior Charlotte Brach was the overall winner in 3 out of 4. Her positive attitude and dedication to the sport were shown through her impressive results. On the girls' side, 6-year veteran seniors Nora Kiel and Shona Boehmer came back for their final season ready to run! Both did extremely well and were a key part of the team's success. Though she’s just in eighth grade, Cassie Long was able to put up impressive times on the course. Her determination and speed was an instrumental part of the girls' winning record. Also on the team, freshmen Olivia Dolce, Metta Sagurney, and Elin Freeman worked extremely hard this season to adapt to the challenging sport and their hard work showed in their times. The girls also had three NFL all-star athletes, the most they’ve had in years. Charlotte Brach secured a spot on the first team, and Cassie Long ran her way to a second-team spot. Audrey Mang clinched a spot on the third team, which is just another accomplishment to add to her impressive season. Audrey, a senior in her third season, really gave it her all this season and was able to cut down her time and run an impressive PR. Overall, the girls say it was the positive practice environment and supportive teammates that made for such an enjoyable and successful season filled with incredible personal records and many memories.
On the boys' side, their season was nothing short of great. Senior Aidan Bieron came back better than ever this season for his 6th and final season. His countless hours of practice and perseverance allowed him to help lead the boys to their impressive record. Max Stinner surpassed everyone's expectations as he overcame challenges from being out the first couple weeks of the season due to an injury to finishing fourth overall at the NFL Meet. Max’s comeback was a testament to his work ethic and dedication to the team. Returning juniors Shaw Freeman and Conor Tyree fought hard this season to support their team while also surpassing their times from the previous season and running incredible PRs. Though it was only his second season, JJ Hodges has become an important asset to the team. His positivity and athletic ability have led him to be highly successful this season. Underclassmen Grady Jones and Caiden Tyree stepped up to Varsity this year; it was challenging but they persisted and proved to be important members of the team. The Varsity boys also had three NFL all-stars: Aidan Bieron and Max Stinner were first team overall and Conor Tyree clinched third team. Both the JV and Varsity boys had records and PRs to be proud of this year.
Most of all, the teams could not have done it without Coach Cat, Coach Madore, and Coach Brunger supporting and guiding them through this season. Their dedication to the team makes the sport worthwhile and the athletes are so grateful to have them by their side.
