On Monday, May 20th, the Kenmore West Unified Basketball Team beat the Kenmore East Unified Basketball Team 49 to 37. The game started with the introduction of players on both teams as the stands filled. Right off the bat, Kenmore West was dominant on the court. As the game fell into a rhythm, East began responding to the buckets put up. With substitutions and strong coaching, both teams began to pick up their speed of play and excitement grew. The crowd responded to shots made by both teams and sportsmanship thrived on and off the court.
The Kenmore West cheerleaders brought energy and the gym lit up the first half of the game. When the buzzer sounded to end the 2nd quarter, the halftime celebrations were all-inclusive and exciting. The Kenmore East dance team performed a routine followed by the Cha Cha Slide that people on both teams and in the stand were invited to participate in.
With solid defense, shining players on both teams, and great team-passing, both East and West put up impressive performances. As the game came to a close, a decisive Blue Devil victory brought everyone to their feet.Â
The rival schools portrayed good sportsmanship and incredible athleticism to provide the crowd with non-stop excitement for the game's duration. Those who had the opportunity to attend were not disappointed. This was a great end-of-the-year athletic event and fun for all grades.
