As most of us know, this month our school put on the production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. As for me, a featured dancer in the show, putting on this production was just as magical as the fairytale. The casting of this show was perfect and the cast, crew, and pit orchestra did an amazing job with the help of Ms. Grunninger, Mrs. Leary, Mrs. McDougle, and Mr. Belote. They have truly made this show magical and an amazing experience for everyone involved.
This show was honestly a lot of hard work but it was very fun at the same time. While there were many late rehearsals and a lot of time spent practicing, I really enjoyed every moment of working on this show with all of the amazing people in it, whether we were singing, acting, or dancing. After everything, I can say that all of our hard work was so worth it. From the beautiful carriage, amazing set, special effects, and gorgeous costumes, it was so cool seeing how our show went from learning the songs and choreography to performing the full show on stage. It was amazing how far we have come as a cast. I feel like this show just flew by and I really wasn't ready for it to end.
As a sophomore, this was my first ever musical at West and I am genuinely so grateful for everyone there who was patient with me while I was getting used to the new environment. I have done crew in the past but acting is a completely different ballgame, and I am so happy that I got to experience dancing in this musical. I will forever be thankful that I decided to audition for the show because joining Theater has given me a community that I wouldn't have found anywhere else. This year during rehearsals I have gotten close to so many amazing people and met my best friends today. Everyone is so welcoming and truly gave me a home when I felt lost. If anyone reading this has ever wanted to do a show but wasn't sure about it, my advice is to go for it. As someone who has done both cast and crew, both are equally fun and I am so glad that I have gotten the chance to do both.
