Are you a fan of Shakespeare or If We Were Villains? Of murder mystery stories? Of numerous twists and turns that will leave you questioning? Then I have the play for you. Shadows of the Stage follows eight high schoolers who just wrapped up their final school production- Hamlet- and they decide to go on a camping trip to celebrate the last four years of high school and theatre. However, what was meant to be a momentous and joyful occasion meant to bring them all closer together, soon turns dark and twisted as the next morning there are only seven left alive and the group realizes they will never be the same. Lies start to unravel, friendships and trust hang on the brink, and nothing is as it seems. Who is lying? Who is telling the truth and is in the wrong place at the wrong time? One of the remaining seven is the murderer but will the thespians be able to find out who is guilty before it is too late?
The play is on December 18th at 7:00 pm and will take place in the Kenmore West Auditorium. Tickets are $5 each (cash or Venmo is accepted at the door) and there will be a concession stand that will be available before the show and during the 15-minute intermission. The profits of said concession stand will go to The Ten Lives Club which is an anti-euthanasia organization with the goal of reducing the number of stray cats who would otherwise end up killed. For more information on the organization, scan the QR code on the poster (physical posters are located around the school and there is a digital poster below).
As the author and director of Shadows of the Stage, this experience has been a tremendous journey. Not only have I bonded with my castmates, I have also strengthened my literary love and my bond to Shakespeare (and who doesn’t want that?). If you don’t come to see it for the script/premise, you should attend solely for the amazing hard work and effort all the actors have put in. I assure you, you will not want to miss out on this amazing opportunity. I hope to see you there.
