In honor of International Women's Day, we as a club decided to thank our favorite female teachers for all that they do!
Mrs. Altman - Caroline Rhoney
Mrs. Altman, thank you so much for being so welcoming and so kind. You have made me feel so included as an 8th grader in a 9th grade class. I have had such a great time in your class and always know I have someone to talk to. Thank you again for being such a great teacher.
Mrs. Boheen - Emily Aronica
Mrs. Boheen teaches Anatomy & Physiology and Living Environment at Ken West and has been here for 10 years! I am currently taking her first-period anatomy class and couldn’t be more grateful to have Mrs. Boheen as my teacher. Especially so early in the morning, I need a teacher who can keep me engaged and Mrs. Boheen does just that by keeping class entertaining! Her teaching style makes learning such detailed and complex topics seem easy and I always feel prepared for any assignments or assessments we are given. She is very funny and energetic and says she loves interacting with students who are about to become adults. I think that this is great because I believe that any student is lucky if they get to take one of her classes throughout high school. Thank you so much for being so inspiring and helpful, Mrs. Boheen. Happy National Women’s Month!
Mrs. Brown - Emily Aronica
Mrs. Brown is an amazing math teacher here at West. I am a sophomore this year and haven’t had Mrs. Brown as a teacher since eighth grade. However, to this day I still stay after school with her if there is ever a topic that I need some help understanding. She is always willing to help and has an answer to any questions you could have. Mrs. Brown’s teaching style makes learning Algebra so much easier than it typically is. It is very obvious that she wants all of her students to not only pass but excel at whatever they're doing. She is so nice and makes such a genuine effort to connect with all of her students. This makes it so much easier to get through high school knowing you have a kind and supportive teacher on your side, always willing to help.
Mrs. Georger - Evangelina Greenwood
Mrs. Georger is an amazing role model who brings light into every school day! She will always greet you with a smile and find a way to brighten even the worst days. I always feel welcome in the library and am glad to share my accomplishments and fun activities with her! I am so thankful to have a safe space and a teacher like her to be able to visit every day!!
Mrs Hefele - Emily Aronica
Mrs. Hefele is a gym teacher here at Kenmore West who has been teaching here for 4 years. She says her favorite part of teaching is interacting with her students which is very obvious when she is playing a sport or teaching a skill in class. She does everything with a smile on her face and overall, brings such a positive vibe to the day and is a great motivation for kids in PE. Additionally, Mrs. Hefele is always down for a conversation to better her relationship with her students and is always kind when anyone has a question or just wants to chat! Thank you for being so encouraging and inspiring.
Ms. Kaderabeck - Sydney Crone
Ms. Kaderaback is such an awesome addition to my English class. When she came halfway through the year, it felt like our classroom was finally complete. Every day, I look forward to her question of the day, which always makes me laugh or think hard, or remember something nice. Ms. Kaderaback is super funny and easy to talk to like a friend. She’s doing great as a student teacher, and I know she is going to be an amazing teacher. Thank you Ms. Kaderback for being so cool!
Mrs. Klose - Scarlett Anderson
Mrs. Klose not only is a ball of sunshine in our school atmosphere but also an inspiration to all of her students. She always has a big smile on her face and is prepared for whatever the day may hold. She believes in every single one of us and always pushes us to do our best no matter what. I am so thankful to call her not only my teacher but my role model. Thank you Mrs. Klose for never giving up on me! Loving math gives hope that every problem has a solution!
Madame Kowal - Sydney Crone
Madame Kowal is a fantastic teacher. She always manages to make learning French fun, even the hard parts. I’m excited for French class every day because her classroom has always felt safe and welcoming. All of my friends who have her feel the same way. Madame Kowal isn’t just a great teacher, but she’s also a great person. She’s super considerate, funny, and very smart. Thank you Madame Kowal for always being kind, I’m so lucky to have you as my French teacher!
Mrs. Leary - Madelyn Meckes
Mrs. Leary is one of the most incredible teachers I have ever had. She is so understanding and is always there to help whenever it is needed. Mrs Leary shares her gift of music with her students and it is so beautiful. She has taught me so many life lessons like if you want to make an impact, you need to use your voice. She provides such a safe space for me and other students. Thank you for everyone you have done for me, Mrs Leary!
Mrs. Lee - Gigi Blumberg
When I had Mrs. Lee as my English 10 honors teacher, I loved her sense of humor and the encouragement she shared for all of her students' hard work. When Gabby and I decided to start The Blue Devil Beat we quickly landed on Mrs. Lee to be our advisor. Since the beginning of this school year, I’ve been reminded time and time again why we chose Mrs. Lee to lead us through this process. Thank you to Mrs. Lee for letting us make mistakes and helping us learn from them. Thank you for giving us a place to exercise our love for writing, and thank you for celebrating our hard work. We all appreciate the long hours you spend correcting our grammar mistakes and helping us to grow the paper we love so much!
Mrs. McDougle - Ava Miosi
In honor of Women's History Month, I decided to write a little bit about Mrs. McDougle and how she has impacted me as a student and person. Mrs. McDougle is my English teacher and was my dance coach in our school musical Cinderella. She made class and rehearsal so fun and interesting. I remember before rehearsals she would have us sit in a circle and name our “thorn” or “bad part” of the day and our “rose” or “good part” of our day, which is something I always looked forward to sharing. In English class, no matter what she always finds herself in a good mood and she tries so hard to engage the students and make learning interesting which I admire her for. Visit her in room 204 to ask her questions or to learn more about her!
Mrs. Peehler - Evangelina Greenwood
Mrs. Peehler is such a hard worker and inspires me to do my best! She is always willing to help and listen every time that I come into the library. I always appreciate her kind and calming presence that gets me through each day! I am so glad to know her and chat with her each day!!
Mrs. Reidell - Rubina Siwakoti
Who doesn’t love Mrs. Reidell? She always welcomes me in her class with a smile. Ms. Reidell has never failed to make me laugh. Truly anyone can tell you how caring she is. Ms. Reidell has taught me so many important skills this year, most importantly how to write a DBQ! Ms. Reidell always guides students through the most challenging moments and is extremely patient with my eighth-period class. Her strong teaching skills have helped me soak up so much knowledge this year. She is one of those teachers you will always think about outside of school. Thank you, Ms. Reidell, for everything and, most importantly never failing to show up for me!
Ms. Ruth - Quinn Blair-Heim
Ms. Ruth is a fun and kind teacher, and I’m always excited to go to her class. Every day I wish I didn’t have to leave, and every minute spent singing and learning with her is exciting. She loves pushing us to try new things and test our limits, and I have learned so much in the short time I have been her student. She truly cares about all her students and is one of the best teachers I have ever had.
Señora Smith - Gabriella Pilat
Señora Smith is always showing me how to laugh through the hard moments. When walking into her class, I am always met with a smile and told “We got fish to fry.” It is obvious that she wants each of her students to succeed. She never gets frustrated when we don’t understand new and difficult concepts, but rather explains them differently. I am thankful for her personalized teaching style and the endless amount of giggles in her classroom. Thank you Señora for always putting a smile on my face when I need it most. ¡Feliz Mes Internacional de la Mujer!
Mrs. Troutman- Mia Winkler
Mrs. Troutman has always motivated me to pursue dreams that may seem unreachable and has always supported me through any moment of doubt. Her class was so welcoming and fun, and there was never a moment where I felt that I couldn’t ask for help or strike up a conversation. Even now I remember how much I enjoyed walking into her classroom every day of Freshman year. She has always had faith in me and my classmates, and I am incredibly grateful. Thank you Mrs. Troutman for believing in me whenever I cannot.
Ms. Weiss - Bells Gressley
Although I have not had Ms. Weiss as a teacher for a few years, I still walk by her room every day and talk to her any chance I can. She never fails to make me smile during the rough moments of the day and she helps remind me that there are positive aspects to even the worst of days. Whenever the cast list for a new play or musical is released, she stops me in the hallway to see what role I have and congratulates me, making sure to assure me that I will do incredible and that she will be right there in the audience to see the production come together. Her constant radiation of positivity and joy is infectious and I know that my eighth grade year and every afternoon since would be dull without her. Thank you, Ms. Weiss, for the never-ending kindness and warmth that you bring into the world.
Madame Woodruff - Quinn Blair-Heim
Madame Woodruff has taught me so much this year, and I wish I could stay in her class forever. The learning environment she has set up is so freeing and enjoyable, and every second spent learning French is teaching me something new. The activities we do are exciting and make sometimes boring days fun and interesting. I am so thankful that she loves all of her students as much as we love her, and I hope that I’ll get to have her as my teacher again someday.
