On Saturday, October 19th, Kenmore West students attended the annual Homecoming Dance. Leading up to the dance, there was a new method of selling tickets. Students received an email where they could fill out a form to sign up for tickets and then pay later. Although this was different from the past years, this eliminated most ticket troubles. There was a cap of 640 for the dance.
Upon entering the dance at 7 pm, you walked through the security point and were asked to see your ticket and student ID. The dance was organized and run by the Senior Class who did an amazing job at decorating and creating a friendly atmosphere. Senior Maddie Marzec said, “Attendance was really good compared to past years.” The DJ’s reviews were incredible; popular songs were played which meant the dance floor was raging with students who were ready to let loose. Popular songs such as “Fein” by Travis Scott and one of our school's favorites “Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’” from Teen Beach Movie were played.
In the gym foyer snacks and water were being sold. There were so many fun activities leading up to the dance, so the students were ready for the biggest one of the week: to dress up and get all their energy out. Towards the end of the dance, the DJ played a Ken West Slow Dance hit: “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. Everyone in attendance came together to link arms and form a large circle around the gym, showing that our school truly is just one big family. No matter what, we come together to support and love each other.
At the end of the dance at 10 pm, students were told to promptly exit the gym so they could go home after three hours of excitement. The dance was an absolute hit, surpassing the expectations of many. The 2024 Homecoming Dance was outstanding in bringing up school spirit and a great time for student engagement!
