The traditional Tinsel Spirit Week gives each day of the school week a theme, leading up to the Tinsel Ball. Every year, the student council chooses four themes for Monday through Thursday, finishing off the week with the traditional ‘Twas The Night Before Tinsel theme where students were encouraged to wear pajamas on Friday.
On Monday, December 4th, the tinsel spirit theme was Buffalove Day. Students and staff alike dressed in Bills and Sabres fan apparel and other Buffalo-themed attire to celebrate our Buffalo pride!
Tuesday’s theme was Ski Slope Chic: Winter Accessories Wonderland. Students were prompted to wear snow sports attire including hats, gloves, scarves, mittens, and more! Snow sport athletes may have even been seen sporting their goggles or Ski Club hoodies.
Humpday was much easier to survive with a theme and a dance to look forward to. Winter White-Out Wednesday encouraged snow-colored clothing. Lots of white filled the halls to make up for a lack of snow on the ground. English teachers tallied up West Fest points per grade level for those who participated wearing white, motivating students to go all out.
On Thursday everyone wore their ugliest holiday sweaters. The itchy, colorful, and overly designed sweaters make for the funniest holiday tradition. This was the only day I would wear a light-up Santa sweater, how about you?
‘Twas The Night Before Tinsel when all through Ken-West, not a blue devil was stirring, not even a… I’ll get back to you when I find a rhyme. On Friday students wore pajamas (with permission for once) for the traditional pajama day which is always held the day before the big Tinsel Ball dance. Students enjoyed being comfy and cozy before getting all dressed up the following day.
