Kenmore West’s annual bonfire got a brand new look this year. The event has been renamed as “Fall Fest” and instead of being held at Crosby Field, it was held in the back of the Kenmore West parking lot. There was previously one giant bonfire that would be lit a far distance from the students there with the help of the local fire departments. This year three small bonfires were tended to by KW staff and students were able to sit around them.
Other than these changes everything else stayed the same about the event, yet it received a lot of criticism. Some students were unhappy with the changes made concerning the location and overall concept of the event and preferred the old bonfire with its chaotic energy. But some students didn’t mind and enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere.
At Fall Fest, students were able to play lawn games, purchase concessions, go to a bounce house, and listen to music. There was a stage set up where the students danced around, student council President Aidan Bieron even got up on the stage to dance to the Cotton Eye Joe. This event is a chance to make memories with your friends and make more connections to people in the school. Overall, going to school events such as Fall Fest are a great way to bond with your classmates and make memories, despite the changes made to the tradition. The changes made this year will take some getting used to but students had a great time this year and we can’t wait to see where it goes in the future!
