2024 has been a VERY big year for female albums. Between Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter, Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, and SO many more, the world has been able to gain an entirely new perspective on the creation of music by females. So many diverse genres have been incorporated into these albums such as Pop, Country, Synth, R&B, and dozens more! Let's look at the top 7 albums by the most famous singers of our generation.
Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande
With the top hits such as “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” “the boy is mine,” and “yes, and?,” Ariana made everyone fall back in love with her music after four years without a new album. In addition to this new album, she is also working on her new production, the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked.
Cowboy Carter by Beyonce
21 years after her debut album, Beyonce currently has one of the longest-running musical careers of this decade. Her new country genre brought in a whole new audience for her. She also featured Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton.
The Secret of Us by Gracie Abrams
Her 4th complete album, The Secret of Us, was released in June and has since taken the internet by storm. Her song “I Love you, I’m Sorry” continues the story from a song she had earlier released called “I Miss You, I’m Sorry.” She also released the fan favorite “Close to You,” and “Us (ft. Taylor Swift).”
Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish
The Junior album for Billie, produced by her brother Finneas, topped the charts at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 as soon as it dropped. She is also going on tour this year and is expected to gain more popularity during the course of this tour.
The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift
Winning seven awards at the 2024 VMA’s alone, The Tortured Poets Department has certainly made a name for itself. After the “Fortnight” music video debuted, the attraction surrounding this album only increased. Surprising fans, Swift decided to release the later half of what we now know to be a double album, with The Anthology released at 3 am. This album will surely go on to win many awards in the near future.
Short n’ Short by Sabrina Carpenter
Following the major success of her hit “Espresso” (in addition to all of the very memorable outros for her song “Nonsense”), Carpenter went on to release her 2nd single from this album entitled “Please, Please, Please.” She later announced her upcoming album, Short n’ Sweet. Shortly after the release of the full album, she also dropped a music video for her 3rd single “Taste” filled with many Easter eggs.
Brat by Charli XCX
Who could possibly forget about the infamous “Brat Summer”? After taking over not only the ENTIRE internet by storm, Brat also took over Kamala Harris’ election campaign. Popular with all types of groups, Brat became very quickly one of the most memorable albums of this year.
Hopefully 2025 will bring us even more amazing music by these fantastic females!
