It is no secret that scientists, doctors, lab technicians, and medical engineers work around the clock, year-round, experimenting, working, and discovering. They work to find new vaccines. They work to find new tools and equipment. They work to discover new cures for various viruses. Some people spend their whole lives working on one project or one idea that might not even work. Along with these continuous trial-and-error methods come many negative or undesired outcomes, but they also come with so many medical advancements. Since everything is constantly being improved upon more and more, we often look past the discoveries happening daily. So, here are the biggest things our scientific med team has done since the start of this year!
To start, although there are many awful diseases even today that med-techs just can’t find a cure for. This year, in particular, has shown great promise in research discoveries for keys to cures in many of these life-altering illnesses. For example, clinical trials for ending cancer have been run where doctors use a new form of xenotransplantation to isolate and reduce malignant tissues within the body, according to CAS Science website also explains how many products such as cytokines, vaccines, and monoclonal antibodies have been improved upon and approved for medicinal use regarding early cancer diagnoses. Along with being just steps closer to finding a cure for cancer, the same science team also elucidates the advancements in finding a cure for neurodegenerative diseases as well. CAS explains that many immunotherapeutics have been approved by the FDA for treating diseases such as Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and ALS.
Additionally, although there has been a negative light shown on A.I. lately, there are some huge positives that have come from this technology regarding medicine. Robots and artificial intelligence have gone hand in hand recently to create fully-functioning surgical robots. In just February of this year, a new prototype of a surgical robot was launched and has been used in numerous successful surgeries in the past six months. The Clarivate Life Sciences website explains the way the robotic system gives surgeons a new advanced set of instruments to perform more minimally invasive surgeries. Clarivate elaborates on the way these new ‘bots’ can offer a surgeon better visualization and increased precision. They are more efficient, decreasing the time these complex surgeries take which is good for both the patient and doctors on the case.
There have also been huge discoveries made around diabetes care devices, neurostimulation devices, and trauma care tools, and these are just a few of the medical science innovations made since the beginning of this year. This illustrates why it’s important to not only focus on the huge revelations in medicine but also on the minor advancements that will eventually lead to incredible uncoverings in the future. Our world today is constantly changing; it’s time to start acknowledging the changes in medicine too.
