Coldplay is a British rock band formed in London in 1997. Because of the description, you might think they only make rock music. However, their music expands across multiple genres, which is why you can listen to it no matter what mood you’re in.
Some of their most popular songs include “Yellow,” “Sparks,” “Viva La Vida,” “Paradise,” and “Fix You,” with “Yellow” gaining over two billion listeners. Their debut album Parachutes was released in 2000 and is possibly their most popular one. Coldplay has won many awards, including the Brit Award for British Album of the Year, a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, and a Mercury Prize nomination.
Coldplay’s most recent tour was of their newest album, Music of The Spheres, and began on March 18, 2022, and will be ending on November 16, 2024. Fans were given bracelets that lit up and changed color with the song, similar to the ones used in Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
The lead vocalist and pianist of the band is Chris Martin, and the other members consist of Jon Buckland (guitar), Guy Berryman (bass guitar), and Will Champion (piano).
Personally, this is my favorite band because I love the meanings of the songs and how they display meaning while also sounding amazing. They also display certain feelings: mostly sadness and melancholy, but they can also be happy and joyful depending on how you feel when you listen to them.
All in all, I think Coldplay is an amazing group and I definitely recommend their music to anybody looking for a new genre or artist.
