Send Help, a psychological/horror survival movie starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, was released on January 30, 2026! The film focuses on Rachel McAdams as a hard-working but not “presentable” or publicly liked employee named Linda Liddle. Dylan O’Brien plays Bradley Preston, the "villain" boss of his father's company. Linda, Dylan, and a select few of other coworkers are privately flying to Bangkok for a business trip when the plane suddenly crashes into the ocean and lands on a remote, unpopulated island in the Gulf of Thailand. The film then follows Linda and Dylan’s journey of surviving on the island, as a toxic power dynamic becomes clear between them.
I personally loved this film! I thought Rachel and O’Brien’s acting skills were amazing, and I really felt their hatred for each other and the psychotic aspects of both of their characters. I really like how when they first wash up on the island, it seems like the two of them could have stayed civil, maybe even followed the path of enemies to lovers. But, we soon see that quite the opposite is going to happen. Secrets, lies, and manipulation from both of them reignite their previous hate for each other from the office. Although Bradley is Linda’s boss back in the city, they’re not in the office anymore, and Linda makes sure to remind him of that. There were scenes where I was cringing because I didn’t know what would come next! I had no idea what the plot twist was, and I loved how it wasn’t obvious or easy to guess from the beginning. I also thought the ending was quite good, and I loved the transition of clips that was used to show the “winner” of Linda and Bradley’s feuds.
If you love psychological thrillers, Send Help is just the film for you! We obviously know from the beginning that Bradley and Linda don’t like each other, but it was unpredictable that the two of them would be on the brink of killing each other. I think their time together on the island allowed them to express their resentment in manipulating and borderline psychotic ways. I definitely recommend this R-rated film if you don’t mind a bit of violence and gore, as well as the adrenaline rush it gives you!
