La La Land

La La Land is a film all about dreams and aspirations. It is a 2-hour movie that was released in 2016 and directed by the brilliant Damien Chazelle. The main character in this musical movie is Mia, played by the one and only Emma Stone. Emma Stone, whose original name is Emily Jean Stone, is a two-time Oscar Award winner. She won Best Actress for her breathtaking performance in La La Land (2016) and Poor Things (2023). You may also recognize her from The Amazing Spider-Man or Cruella. Her male co-star is none other than Ryan Gosling, best known for his performances in Barbie and The Notebook. Gosling steps into the role of Sebastian and absolutely nails it! As if the cast wasn't star-studded enough, the two leads were joined by John Legend, who plays the role of Keith. 

Mia and Seb are the pillars of this magical film. Stone and Gosling truly embody the essence of these characters and give them life. Because the characters are so crucial to this film, it's important to know them. Mia is a sweet and hardworking girl who has lots of ambition. She is in her twenties and is trying to find herself while also attempting to pursue an acting career. The audience witnesses her ups and downs and watches her grow over time. On the other hand, Seb originally comes off as rude and stubborn, but behind that facade is a wickedly talented piano player. Seb is a good guy who, like Mia, has big dreams.

So, what is La La Land about? This movie takes place in the beautiful city of Los Angeles and the story follows Mia. We see her audition for numerous roles, but she doesn't have much luck. Sebastian is also struggling with his career as a pianist. They are both living very separate lives until one lovely night, they finally meet each other. Mia and Seb start talking more, and we watch them bond over Seb’s love for jazz and Mia’s passion for acting. Over time, their connection with each other becomes more intimate and deep. As months go by, we see their wonderful relationship grow into something truly beautiful. Both Mia and Seb give their all to reach their goals, but only one is successful so far. Will this success get in the way of their relationship, or will they get through it? What would one give to have their dreams come true? If you want to find out, you'll just have to watch this magnificent film.

I’m not the only person who loves this movie. The reviews and rewards speak for themselves. La La Land won multiple Oscar awards, including Best Music, Best Cinematography, Best Directing, and Best Actress. La La Land received a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 94% on Metacritic. The enchanting story and magical soundtrack may be why this movie is so loved. If you want to be left speechless, La La Land is the film for you.
