Fall is considered the season of change, the change of the leaves, the change from warm weather to the brisk, and most especially, the changing of our clothes. Fashion trends change all the time, but especially when encountering a new season. The interesting thing about Fall, though, is that the color pallet will always remain the same. Looking online for outfit inspiration, you might find that recently the color “cherry” is in. There will always be that continuation of nude colors though, browns and paler oranges that replicate what we see on the trees. One example is the comeback of Uggs over the past year. Every girl wants to get their hands on Ugg slippers because they’re trending as well as the fact that they’re extremely comfortable. Most of the colors that we choose for our Uggs are considered a part of the Fall color pallet. But an offset from the Fall colors has been baby pink. Everywhere I look I see baby pink leggings, long-sleeve shirts, and ribbons in every girl's hair. This is the start of Winter fashion trends since baby pink has been a fan-favorite for “Pink Christmas.” If you’re big into fashion like me, you notice these things with ease, but with the uproar of social media, it becomes harder and harder to keep up with some “micro-trends” like the color cherry (which is just red).
Interestingly enough, from a student’s perspective, in school we prefer the comfiness that comes with the cold. Many students have enjoyed wearing sweatpants and pajama pants to school in recent years, and since Uggs are trending too it makes for ultimate comfort at school. Using these items can create an outfit that takes little effort in putting together. But even still, students find a way to make it fashionable. Although being comfy might not be seen as put-together, I look at so many students and admire the fact that they take pride in the details of their outfits. They all use “make-it-work” situations to their advantage. My brother, for example, also enjoys keeping up with the trends. It’s just that he's not looking at Vogue like I am; he looks online at his favorite influencers, just like many of his friends at school.
About five years ago there was no distinction between what was really trending. Everyone wore the same “style,” but it's nice to see this new age of everything trending since anyone can wear any style. What might be seen as something fashionable to you, might be something I would never put on. But that's the joy of it, experimenting with who we are and our individuality comes across in our clothes. Since Fall is the start to everything new, that comes with fashion. So, as we cycle out the old trends and embrace the new, this comes with the acceptance that with school fashion we are always going to favor comfort in our clothes over more “acceptable” ways to dress ourselves. As we travel into Winter, still stay fresh Kenmore West!
