Taylor Alison Swift. The international superstar. That alone, in my opinion, perfectly wraps up who she is. However, I would like to share more about my favorite entertainer of all time. Born December 13th, 1989, Taylor Swift is a recording artist who has been releasing music for almost 20 years. Swift explained to fans that when she was a little girl, she received a guitar for Christmas which led to her falling in love with writing and performing for her family and friends. Her desire to perform led to her moving with her family from her parent's Christmas tree farm in Reading, Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tennessee where she signed a record deal at the age of 15 with Big Machine Records. From there she released her debut album Taylor Swift in the fall of 2006.
Flashforward to now, Taylor has released 10 studio albums, with 4 re-records: Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Fans are anticipating the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) and Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version). 12 Grammy Awards, 40 American Music Awards, 39 Billboard Awards, and 23 MTV Music Video Awards later, Taylor Swift truly has taken the world by storm. On November 25th, 2020 Taylor Swift, in collaboration with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff recorded her 8th studio album Folklore live at the Long Pond Studio in Upstate New York. That recording session was turned into a Disney+ documentary. In addition to her Folklore documentary, she also released her documentary titled Miss Americana in 2020 and The Eras Tour Movie in 2023. Arguably the most impactful event so far in her career, the Eras Tour has grossed at least a total of $1.04 billion and is one of the highest-grossing tours of all time. So far she has concluded the first portion of her North American leg and is traveling to Tokyo in February to kick off the international leg.
Between her influential lyrics, catchy melodies, and meaningful backstories, Taylor Swift's music has impacted people all over the world. When listening to her discography, you can always find a song that fits the mood you are in. Hanging out with friends, going through a breakup, or struggling with school, there is a song for you. Taylor Swift will go down in history as someone generous to her employees, thoughtful to her fans, respectful toward fellow musicians, and loving to her family and friends. I am grateful to live in the same generation as her and to be able to witness how Taylor Swift has been and forever will be a superstar.
