Little girls run into beauty shops
Looking for the perfect skincare routine
Using retinol and skin creams
Teenagers slug their faces
With lotion and Vaseline
And women get Botox to preserve the young in their faces
To prevent wrinkles and smile lines
But growing old
Is a privilege
Because not everyone
Lives long enough
To grow old
So why try to cover it up?
Because we all have aged
And it's beautiful
It's beautiful to look at someone and see their childhood
To see their memories from laughter creases
And the times when they frowned
It's beautiful to blossom like a flower
On a tree
That's roots are holding it together
With age
