A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder - Holly Jackson
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a YA book written by Holly Jackson. It's the first book in a series of the same name. A Good Girl's Guide To Murder follows Pip, a high school girl with a love for everything true crime. When Pip investigates a cold case from her town, she accidentally opens up a can of worms that she wasn’t prepared for. I highly recommend picking up A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder if you like true crime. The book and its sequels Good Girl, Bad Blood, and As Good as Dead are filled with shocking twists and turns that personally, I never saw coming. If you like Karen M. McManus’ book series One of Us Is Lying, I’d definitely recommend this series. If you find that you love this book series and want more, Holly Jackson has three other books published as well! A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is also currently being adapted into a TV show and is expected to be released very soon. All three books in this series are available to check out in the Kenmore West Library.
Before The Coffee Gets Cold - Toshikazu Kawaguchi
Before the Coffee Gets Cold is a book written by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Originally written in Japanese and translated into English in 2019, the tagline on the cover reads, “What would you change if you could travel back in time?” The story follows workers in a cafe, who slowly get to know customers as they come and go. But, these customers want more than just coffee; they want a second chance. Legend says that in the cafe, if you follow very specific rules, you can travel back in time. Before the Coffee Gets Cold deals with themes of grief, family, and love, and personally, it really made me think about what I would do differently if I was given the chance to go back in time. Before the Coffee Gets Cold is the first book in a four book series, and the fifth book is expected to be released this September.
Hide - Kiersten White
Hide is a horror/thriller written by Kiersten White. The book follows Mack, one girl in a group of people who are competing against each other in a game of hide and seek for a reality show. The group is set to play their game in an abandoned amusement park, but things go wrong very quickly. If you are a horror lover, I highly recommend this book. The scares are hard-hitting and the suspense had me at the edge of my seat. Kiersten White writes every scene in this book very vividly, making you feel like you’re in this world with the characters, making it all seem even scarier.
