1. A Harvest Of Hearts by Andrea Eames
I just finished this book recently, and it was one of the best books I’ve read so far! It’s set in a kingdom, and the outskirts of the town, with a King and his “magic workers” that steal the hearts of the villagers. The workers stop by the different towns in their fancy carriages, leering at the people with their insanely beautiful faces and aura. Once you get too close, they snag a part of your heart, and you might not realize until it’s too late. Sometimes your entire heart is taken, and eventually you collapse and die. But, until you do, you’re obsessed and longing for the magic worker that took your heart. It’s like a love spell, even if the workers didn’t mean to cast it on you. This happened to the main character, Foss Butcher, who becomes a housekeeper for a sorcerer, because she is connected to him through the spell, and the heart he snagged of hers. But, she changes his ways. This book is like an enemies-to-lovers trope, with them ending up working together to stop the King and his workers before all the villagers are dead. I definitely recommend this book, and I rate it a 10/10!! The amount of mystery and romance is perfect, and it gives such a Halloween vibe.
2. The Beautiful Maddening by Shea Ernshaw
This book has that creepy feeling with some added romance! The main character, Lare Goode, a seventeen-year-old, is a part of her cursed family. They have always had these mysterious glowing tulips in their backyard that have always attracted people to them. Others fall head over heels in love with the Goodes. She meets a boy who seems to be immune to the tulips, and she is intrigued by this. Finally, someone who isn’t scared of her or who only talks to her because of the effects the tulips have on them. Although she wants to escape her little town that traps her in her family’s curse, she wants to know this boy, maybe as even more than just friends.
3. A Wilderness Of Stars by Shea Ernshaw
This book was definitely one of my favorites! Vega, a teenage girl, isn’t just any regular girl. She is the last astronomer on Earth, after her mother, who goes on a journey to find the last architect. An unknown illness is killing all the people in the towns. She has to use her wisdom about the stars to find a cure for the disease. Her mom has been preparing her during her entire life for this very moment when an omen in the sky opens up. She has a hope to save humanity, but obstacles come across her way. People are looking for her, identifying her by the constellation marked on her body. They want to experiment on her and force her to help the sick. I love that there is romance in this book, and the fearful feeling you get when you’re running away from something.
4. The Stars We Steal by Alexa Donne
Princess Leonie Kolburg is the heir to her family’s spaceship! Her parents make her and her siblings participate in the Valg Season, which was created for the princesses and princes to find a significant other. She needs to find a boy to save her family from financial ruin. But the return of her first love, Elliot, makes this difficult. She becomes distracted by him. Her family didn’t approve of him the first time around, as he didn’t have much money. Now, that has changed. She learns how to cope with her problems, friendships, and relationships through her journey. Is being rich really worth it? Find out by reading this book!!
5. The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
Clementine West is given her aunt's apartment, but what she doesn’t know is that this apartment will bring romance to life. She meets a mysterious man who is her roommate. Hence, the “seven-year slip”, as he is from seven years in the past. Clementine doesn’t care that he isn’t in the present. This book is about coping with grief, finding new love, and dealing with difficult feelings. She follows her dream job, with her dream man. This rom-com gives me cozy fall vibes, and although I read it a while ago, I still remember this novel because the chemistry between the characters stuck with me. I love how the author wrote the characters and the magical aspect!! This book proves that if you really love someone, it doesn’t matter the circumstances or their situation. The time difference doesn’t matter to Clementine and Iwan, compared to the love they have for each other. They want to make it work, so they will! Read to find out what their ending is.
