It’s February! Love is in the air… or is it? Now Valentine’s Day can be fun with all of the candy, flowers, and stuffed bears, but it’s not all fun and treats for everyone. This season brings out a lot of feelings in people, especially teens. I’m here to remind you that whether you are single or you have a significant other the season of love is for everyone.
Many people in high school are either in a relationship or they wish they were, but it is important to remember that there is love everywhere. There is love in our communities and with our friends; there is love in our family, our pets, our teachers, and much more. Anywhere you find love is worthy of celebration this holiday.
My advice to you is to make a note, mental or written, that lists who and what you plan on sharing your love with. No matter who, or what, it is that you love, find a way to say it or show it. Now I love my family and I like to tell them all the time. I also love my teachers… I don’t plan on telling said teachers that I love them but I can find other ways to show them. If you like to give gifts or write letters then maybe that’s how you show them. If you like to stop in and say thank you for all that they have done for you then that’s how you show them. If the thing that you love is your bed then show it that you love it by making it nicely today.
Showing love does not need to be a grand gesture or proclamation. Love only needs to be felt and spread, expressed and understood. Love is not always romantic, as not everyone is IN love with one another, but it is for everyone no matter the connection. Love is necessary.
Whether or not Valentine’s Day is about chocolate and hearts for you, feel the love and spread it in every way possible.
