Project Description: Lets start at the beginning, with Disney Infinity. Me and my friends only discovered Disney Infinity recently. I wanted to take this game and mod it, creating a new character. I began by using a webpage Mr. Ashman set me up with called CodeCombat. However, this ended quickly and I was forced to look for new solutions, leading me to mainly watch videos and read about modding the game. However, it proved to be extremely difficult, leading me to work on a scratch project, pong but different. This game is my final project, using basic pong 1-player and adding some surprises
This game is a production from Disney, with 3 versions. I have 3.0 on the WiiU, and this game uses NFC touchpoints to use different characters.
NFC touchpoints are part of the future, with credit cards using them, amibo in nintendo, and even my own Disney Infinity characters. They are like tiny readers.
Throughout researching mods for Disney Infinity, I found it quite difficult to get the actual data from Disney infinity off of the disc I had it on, partially because it was difficult, and partially because I play on a WiiU, a Nintendo Console. I watched many videos about modding the game, but it was too difficult. Eventually I went into scratch and these next statements are a few of the ways I felt while doing this.
This scratch thing is kind of hard, but I'm picking it up Will's help is very useful. Will is helping through it, but not doing it for me. The bounce effect is hard.
I'm going to add a score variable so you can see your score.
I added the score effect, however the score goes up when i hit it, but it doesn't get harder without manually making it harder. I'm going to add a speed effect, gradually making the ball move faster.
I'm going to add surprises, making clones, changing speed and score.
I'm deleting the surprises, keeping clones and changing the size of the ball or paddle
I'm deleting those, and am adding distractions like aliens, and other distractions.
Then, I made my final version.
In the end, I settled upon a scratch project for my final project, Pong- No friends edition. (The image links to it.)
In this pong-like game, you begin with basic pong, except it is one player. with a score and increasing speed However, you are soon to be surprised. Literally. There are a few surprises within the game, and you'll have to play to find out.
Disclaimer: As I didn't have much time to work on this game, it is a bit glitchy, and there might possibly be more added later on.
Throughout my project, I learned many things. One of which is what you expect is not always what you get. And do your research. If you don't know what you are doing, it will screw you over. Find something easy first. If you start with the hardest thing in the world, and don't know anything about it, it will be extremely hard. Also, just because it will be cool for your friends, that doesn't mean it is a good project. This project was not my most productive project ever, but I am proud of what I did.
