When it comes to maths in the SAT, it is not as difficult as one might think. Some questions are going to be tricky to think about and the wording might trip you up, but most of the necessary concepts are concepts learned in grade 10 and before. Especially for AAHL, this will be a piece of cake. Maths AI students, you will have an advantage; most of the questions in the maths section are interpretations-based. However, a formula sheet is not permitted in the SAT exams, so most of the formulae and tricks will have to be memorised :(
Please be clear on what formulae and equations actually represent, as some questions may ask what a certain part of an equation represents in a real-life context.
The main idea in SAT maths is to be quick and accurate. In order to score high, be proficient with manipulating equations and inequalities, and understanding how to approach questions. The timings for the maths section is around 1.2 minutes per mark, so slightly longer than the HL maths timings. If you feel you are taking too long on a question, skip it and come back to it later. DO NOT RUSH through questions.
All of the concepts in SAT maths is heavily covered by HL maths courses, so most of the information will be for AHL content which SL students have not covered. Keep in mind that tricks are also given in the sections, so it is still worth the time for HL students to read through the pages.
