Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, a nature reserve located at the northwest of Singapore, is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, ranging from mangroves and freshwater plants to mudskippers, monitor lizards and crocodiles. The nature reserve is an important stop-over point for migratory birds and has recorded over 200 species of birds, about half of them being these migratory birds.
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, then known as Sungei Buloh Nature Park, was officially opened on 6th December 1993 and on 1st January 2002, it was gazetted as nature reserve and renamed to "Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve". Then, in 2003, it became Singapore's first ever ASEAN Heritage Park.
