School Schedule Proposal

Greetings Mister Beutner,

Hopefully you have remained healthy during these tough times. This is a group of Greendot scholars who wish to propose alternatives as we head into the fall semester, and get around COVID-19.

With that said we believe that it would be best to resume school with a hybrid-like option, since it provides a two group window---Group A on campus Monday/Wednesday---group B on campus Tuesday/Thursday---and classes held virtually on Fridays’.

However we would like face coverings to be mandatory, since experts have stated that face coverings “ activate source control making it difficult for respiratory droplets to roam in the open air”. Personally, as High School students’ remote learning has been challenging. However with an on campus option students will have less trouble adapting once again to a usual way of learning. Additionally, other boards of education such as the board of Orange County and Florida have already said that they are going with the hybrid option. Therefore if LAUSD is part of this collective effort and for the most part follows the adequate precautions. LA can encourage other county’s to do the same.

According to the classroom model my group designed (above) this proves the effectiveness of a hybrid schedule, since social interactions are minimal and students get to learn in an ideal setting.

Thus we as students who wish to further our intellectual curiosity, ask for reconsideration on going with a hybrid form of learning.

Best of luck,
