SEX VS. GENDER
Biological differences (male/female)
Social roles and identity
Gender Pay Gap
The gender pay gap represents a significant issue as it demonstrates the discriminatory nature of hiring practices within the workplace. It depicts systemic inequities; there will always be financial consequences when an employee does not receive fair compensation for carrying out the same role as another employee.
Discrimination
Discrimination is another major concern for people because it can limit or deny individuals equal access to education, jobs, and basic rights. Discrimination serves to create an unequal playing field and impose unjust barriers on individuals by denying them the right to achieve their fullest potential based solely on their gender.
Violence
Gender-based violence poses a threat to an individual's right to live without fear of violence, live with dignity and enjoy their human rights. Millions of individuals are affected by this type of violence on a daily basis, leaving behind a legacy of trauma, fear, and inequality in our global society.
Limited Opportunities
Limited opportunities are considered a primary concern because many individuals will not have an equal chance to be in positions of leadership, receive a quality education and/or realize a career success. Impeding the potential to provide individuals with meaningful chances will result in slowing down not only the individuals' growth but that of society as well.
Stereotypes can limit a person’s potential and lead to unfair treatment in society.
