DOGO News is a database available to us through MackinVia. It has kid-friendly news items in readable formats that are adjustable.  I recommend it for grades 2-5.  We've had introduction lessons in the IC on this resource, and I'm including the tutorials below.  There is one for grades 4/5 and one for grades 2/3.  Please scroll down to see, and, as always, if you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks!  Ms. M
