Essential Learnings
Essential Learnings articulate the skills, content, and concepts aligned with DoDEA College and Career Ready Standards. Essential Learnings provide a clear focus for the learning that must occur in each grade-level. Essential Learnings specify the topics/concepts that students must learn in order to be ready for the next level or next related topic/concept within a grade-level content area and promote systemic consistency. Regardless of modality (in-person learning, remote learning, or virtual learning), students should engage in these Essential Learnings.
Synchronous & Asynchronous Instruction
Live instruction will be provided each day the class is scheduled to meet. Direct (new) instruction can be provided asynchronously through teacher-created videos.
Remote Office Hours
Remote office hours are intended to provide teachers and students with flexible time each day to meet individual student needs.
Attendance
Teachers will indicate in Aspen weekly whether students have been attending to the learning throughout the week.
Grading
Classroom teachers and specialists will post at least one graded assignment per week.
Teachers will be flexible with students and ensure, to the maximum extent possible, that grades are a reflection of students’ performance and not their circumstances.
Teachers should emphasize valuable feedback, create multiple opportunities for improvement, and provide authentic performance-based assessments.
