• You are comfortable with the pace of this year's Math 6 class

• You are often confused by word problems in math

• The idea of doing a lot of math in a short amount of time intimidates or scares you

• When problems have fractions in them, you are not sure what to do

• The skills you mastered at the beginning of the year are not sharp in your math mind

The Accelerated 7/8 course might be a good option if:

• You finish our Math 6 work quickly and wonder what comes next

• You can comfortably work through most word problems

• The idea of doing a lot of math in a short amount of time excites you in a good way

• Fractions and decimals are not a problem for you

• The work we did at the beginning of the year is still fresh in your math mind

• Look for strong performance on state assessments or benchmark exams, which often measure math proficiency. If you want it, Mr. Pierre can tell you your score from last's summative assessment to gauge readiness for accelerated math.
