Hello 4th grade families! I am Mrs. White and I am starting year 13 in education. My family is from Texas, and we miss our “real” tortillas. My husband and I have 2 children who are here at LES as well. I look forward to an amazing year with your 4th grader!
Hey 4th Graders! I am Mr. Mercen and I have been teaching for more than three decades! I am originally from Wisconsin, but I have lived in Arizona, Korea, Japan, and now Germany. I have a wife and two boys. My boys are now grown and living in Florida. You are going to have a great year this year. I know it!

Our Teaching Philosophy
Welcome to the 4th Grade! We are looking forward to working with your child and taking him or her as far as we can in a year. School can be fun, but it doesn't have to be. Sometimes it is hard work and sometimes it involves leaving the comfort zone, but the results are worth it. We believe that every child can learn new things. We have a "Growth Mindset Philosophy" in which we believe that every child is still growing. When a child tells us "I don't get it", we respond with "you just don't get it .... yet". Your child will learn, but it happens at a different rate for each child.
We believe that every child belongs to the class and we look for connections to help support them emotionally and academically. We want your child to enjoy coming to school and to look forward to making progress daily. We have a proven academic program and we have elements in place for individual differences. Our aim is to make sure that by the end of the year your child is ready for fifth grade and beyond. Please let us know if we can help your child in any way.
