Lieutenant Commander Myers is an accomplished Naval officer with 26 years of diverse assignments in executive level staff work, exercise and event planning, and complex naval operations.
Lieutenant Commander Myers enlisted in March 1992 as an Electrician’s Mate and served at sea onboard USS LOCKWOOD (FF 1064), Destroyer Squadron NINE Fleet Introduction Team, USS CALLAGHAN (DDG 994), and ashore as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes.
Lieutenant Commander Myers was selected for the Seaman to Admiral Program in 1999 and graduated from Old Dominion University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy of Politics and Law.
Afloat, Lieutenant Commander Myers completed his division officer tours aboard USS PATRIOT (MCM 7) as the Combat Information Center Officer, Electrical Officer, Assistant Chief Engineer, and Communications Officer followed by USS LASSEN (DDG 82) as the Fire Control Officer. He completed his department head tours aboard USS DEFENDER (MCM 2) as the Chief Engineer and Destroyer Squadron FIFTEEN as the Combat Systems, Weapons, and Ballistic Missile Defense Officer (N8). He served as the Flag Secretary for Commander, Task Force SEVEN SIX and embarked the USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) Expeditionary Strike Group. Additionally, he served as the Chief Staff Officer of Maritime Prepositioning Ships Squadron TWO in Diego Garcia. During these sea tours, he conducted operations throughout Asia and the Indian Ocean for nearly ten years.
Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Myers served at the United States Naval Academy as an instructor in the Leadership, Ethics, and Law Department. He completed his Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic at the United States Naval War College. Additionally, he served in the Training and Assessments Directorate (N7) at the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center, Mine Warfare Division.
Lieutenant Commander Myers retired from active duty on December 1st, 2018. Upon retirement, he assumed duties as the Senior Naval Science Instructor at Edward C. Reed High School in Sparks, Nevada. There he was involved in the personal, professional, and academic development of over 170 cadets annually. He assumed his current position in August 2021.

Chief (SW/AW) Kilanski is a native of California. His Navy career began in January of 1990. He attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois and continued to Operations Specialist (OS) “A” school in Dam Neck, Virginia, where he served as the installation’s primary Color Guard and performed as a member of the Exhibition Drill Team. His first sea assignment was aboard USS WORDEN (CG 18), a guided missile Cruiser based out of Pearl Harbor, Hawai’i, where he deployed to the Arabian Gulf shortly after reporting in support of OPERATION DESERT SHIELD and subsequently OPERATION DESERT STORM. Upon return, he served as the secondary Color Guard for Naval Station, Pearl Harbor, earning him a spot as the only Afloat Navy member to visit with President Clinton.
Chief Kilanski’s follow-on sea tours to include: USS CUSHING (DD 985), where he supervised a habitability team during a major ship overhaul; USS RODNEY M DAVIS (FFG 60), part of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) in Yokosuka, Japan; Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing One (CTF 72/57) in KamiSeya, Japan, USS OBRIEN (DD 975), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. He has made numerous deployments to the Arabian Gulf in support of OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
He served his shore career both overseas and stateside, including commands such as: NAVY CENTER FOR TACTICAL SYSTEMS INTEROPERABILITY, DET FIVE (NCTSI), in Yokosuka, Japan, testing ships and aircraft operability systems; COMMANDER, STRIKE FORCE TRAINING, PACIFIC (CSFTP), where he prepared and evaluated deploying Carrier Strike Groups in interoperability management. Chief Kilanski’s final tour was at COMMANDER, NAVAL FORCE EUROPE/AFRICA/COMMANDER SIXTH FLEET (CNE/CNA/C6F), where he served as the Assistant Joint Interface Control Officer (AJICO), Europe and Africa Region Assistant Safety Director, and Fleet Watch Officer
Chief Kilanski retired from active duty in January of 2014, after 24 years of active service. He now actively serves his community as the Naval Science Instructor at Nile C. Kinnick High School in Yokosuka, Japan, where he’s been since September of 2014. He is entitled to wear the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal (3), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit and sea service awards.
