Meet Your Teacher

Welcome to the course! My name is Phil Ackland, a career and technical education (CTE) teacher at Nile C. Kinnick High School. I am here in Yokosuka, Japan with my wife Randi, my daughter Maebie, and my son Harvey.

I believe that the purpose of high school is not just to develop basic skills and gain knowledge, but also to experience and explore different career opportunities. I encourage you to view your time in my class as a chance to do just that as you learn about technology and engineering-related professions and consider if pursuing a career in these fields is a good choice for you.

To introduce you to different concepts, I strive to provide activities which are engaging, hands-on, and show practical application. Through enrollment in my courses, I hope that you will expand your understanding of technology and engineering concepts and gain insight into how you can effectively leverage technological tools to solve problems.
