Students around the globe will connect virtually to collaboratively complete a Literature Unit exploring cultures and real world problems. All classes will read narrative nonfiction literature that deals with a variety of issues to include immigration, belonging to a community, learning new languages, access to safe and clean water, war, genocide and access to education.
Through literature and connecting with our partner schools, we will see the world and global issues through a different viewpoint. Further, students will have an authentic twenty-first century learning experience through digital connections with peers, continents away, sharing the global experience.
Students will be recording their thoughts through written and verbal literary analysis and responses to peers as they journey through the novels. Groups will share their literature circle discussions via video. After reading (time-permitting), students will determine a real-world problem that they would like to solve. Students will conduct research using nonfiction resources to determine solutions to help real world issues.
