Robot finished

This is the finished design after we built it well my teammate finished off the design because I got sick last minute.

Why we built the robot

We built the robot to collect samples of soil why this is useful because it can be turned into a source of heat which can be used for more ambitious missions. For example a mission to mars and the lunar regolith may be eventually used to generate electricity. This is the site found this info on.

How we built the robot

We used an older version of the Lego Mindstorms there is a better version but our teacher would rather make us use the older version because that's all we had for this project too. If you don't know what Lego Mindstorms is, it is a Lego robotics system. For our design we chose some big front wheels and stabilizers in the back to keep sturdy since it will be going over big hills, and we used a gyro sensor to detect that it is going down hill. the arm on the front is to pick up the "lunar regolith" or sand which is the closest thing we have to lunar regolith

How this is going to help the new Artemis base

once again the power from lunar regolith bricks will help with power and scientists do believe that there is water on the moon to learn more about this go to the site that say Wikipedia. the Artemis base is a base that will be planted on the moon and will be used for launching other rockets on to mars if you like to learn more about this go to the site that says NASA.

What is lunar regolith

Lunar regolith in basic words is a fine grained reworked surface deposit it is made of broken rocks and type of dust that is very powdery. The soil is formed by meteorites hitting the surface which not just make the craters but also crushes big rocks to make the powder.
