Welcome to Light Behind the Light's official website! Light Behind the Light is a project that aims to improve the safety and convenience of driving among all drivers. 

Many people in our community have stated they have accidentally run over red lights due to a semi-truck obstructing their view while at an intersection, increasing the chance of an accident. In fact, over 76% of those who participated in our poll have stated they’ve done this, with the Federal Highway Administration stating how over 45% of all car collisions at intersections are caused by accidental red light running’s, highlighting the need for a solution to reduce the amount of accidental red light running’s to mitigate the number of collisions, injuries, and fatalities that occur yearly.

Did you know that in 2022, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a staggering 1,149 people were killed in red light running incidents most commonly among intersections? One common, yet dangerous, scenario involves drivers blindly following semi-trucks through intersections, unable to see the traffic light ahead. That is why we are developing a product to combat such a common occurrence. We aim to provide for a product that displays a projection of traffic lights behind large semi-trucks, making it visible to drivers behind to provide for a light behind the light and prevent any future fatalities intersections.
