Ruth Barreiro
Ruth Barreiro, a graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor of Architecture, has been a Technology Education teacher at Clearview Regional High School for the past nine years and has taught a variety of courses including CAD I, CAD II, Introduction to Engineering Design, Robotics I-IV, Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A. Ms. Barreiro, along with 15 dedicated students, started the FIRST Tech Challenge program at Clearview during the 2015-2016 season Res-Q. Outside of Robotics, Ms. Barreiro enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, gardening, singing and taking care of her 6 chickens and two dogs.
Dr. William Nagel
Dr. Nagel's interest in robotic and mechatronic systems started with his introduction to control systems. Working with complicated electromechanical systems, modeling their behavior, and finally improving their performance was a very rewarding experience to him that bridged theoretical and practical engineering beautifully. Since then, he has focused on using mechanical design, advanced control, and intelligent robotics techniques for high-speed, high-precision positioning systems at the micrometer and nanometer scales. He is using these techniques to improve bandwidth and throughput for applications such as atomic force microscopy (AFM), and additive manufacturing (3D printing) to name a few.
Thomas Guida
Thomas Guida graduated from Rutgers University (B.A), Georgian Court University (M.A.), and Stockton University (M.Ed.). He is in his 15 year of teaching grades 7-12 in mathematics, computer science, and social studies. Mr. Guida has been involved in robotics since 2016. He created a VEX robotics club at Holy Cross Academy in 2016, fostered a relationship between Clearview middle school students and the Clearview High School FIRST Tech Challenge program in 2019, and in 2021 helped increase the Clearview FTC club increase from 3 teams to 5 teams. In 2022, Mr. Guida created the Clearview Middle School robotics club. In addition to teaching, he has also been a high school soccer coach since 2006.
