A total of $117 million has been given out in 929 B-WET awards since the program's beginning in 2002. The seven regions of the US that the B-WET program now covers are California, the Chesapeake Bay, the Great Lakes, the Gulf of Mexico, Hawaii, New England, and the Pacific Northwest. The personalized grantee assistance and capacity building offered by regional B-WET initiatives. This enables B-WET to incorporate regional STEM resources and knowledge and to address local objectives in environmental protection and education.
