Social Justice-Oriented Math

Similar to science, careers in the math field are overly represented by white males. As an educator, it is important to show my students that math is an attainable subject for all identities. Diverse students offer perspectives and experiences that can maximize developments in mathematical fields. I can promote this notion by highlighting mathematicians of all identities around my future classroom so that students see themselves represented in these role models and are inspired to add to this field themselves.
