Hello! My name is Jackie Laurence and this is my seventeenth year teaching at Gilbertsville Elementary School and my second year teaching 5th grade math, science, and social studies. I graduated from Temple University with degrees in Elementary and Special Education and earned my Master's Degree at Wilkes University. I also completed a certificate program with a focus on researched based teaching strategies. As a committed lifelong learner, I continue to take professional courses to discover new and exciting teaching strategies, best practices, and innovative ways to inspire learning. I can't wait to learn new ways to "Uncover the genius that resides in every child."
I have an amazing family...see pictures above! I am married to my best friend George. My son Ryan and "daughter-in-love" Mary Cate are my pride and joy. My heart is now complete with the arrival of my beautiful and adorable grandchildren, Nancy Maria who turned four in February, Charles John who turned two in June, and grandbaby William Justus who was born January 2025. We also have an adorable fur baby named Katey.
Some of my favorite things outside of teaching include leading worship at church, cooking healthy meals for my family, gardening, golfing with my favorite golf partner, Mr. Laurence, hiking with friends, and reading books with my Book Club buddies.
Being a teacher is a childhood dream that has turned into my passion. I feel honored and blessed to be teaching fifth grade at GES.
