Camper of the Week

Each week, starting in October, a student gets the opportunity to be the Camper of the Week. This is wonderful way to get to know each and every member in our classroom community and to recognize and celebrate the strengths each child brings to our class. You will be given the schedule in advance and the week before an envelope will come home with a Camper of the Week sheet for your child to fill out and bring in on Monday. The rest of the schedule is as follows:

· Monday – Share pictures: Students will fill out a Camper information sheet with some facts about themselves (this becomes the cover of their Camper of the Week book) and bring in approximately 6 pictures of themselves and family. The pictures will be displayed for the week and the “camper” will get an opportunity to tell about each picture. Parents, you can email these pics if you would like, but then the display will be in black and white.

· Tuesday – Show and Tell: The Camper may bring something special from home to show the class. It must fit in a backpack and be an item that is acceptable for school (no weapons, nothing gory, etc).

· Wednesday – Spotlight: Student gets to relax in a special spot while classmates write him or her a letter, which will be published in the Camper of the Week book.

· Thursday – Read a Book: The “Camper” will read a favorite book to the class.

· Friday – Read Camper Letters: The other students write a letter to the Camper and your son/daughter gets to read these letters aloud to the class. They are put into book form for your child to keep as a memory of second grade forever.
