BELLWORK
Every day, we will begin class with bellwork. This is time for students to settle in and get focused for class. Bellwork will be turned in for a grade at the end of each week, at 5 points per day. Students who are absent will be expected to make up the bellwork.
Monday - Vocabulary Tuesday - Silent Reading Wednesday - Flipped Lesson Thursday – Journal Prompt Friday - Grammar
FLIPPED LESSONS
On Wednesdays, each class period will begin with a "flipped lesson" as bellwork for the day. A flipped lesson is when the instructional portion of a skill or strategy is done with a video, and the student watches and takes notes on the video independently. This allows the students to focus on applying the information that they learned in the video during class time.
DAILY POINTS & LIVE SCHOOL
We will keep track of daily points and classroom behavior with Live School, and you will receive Live School points for showing The Pirate Way in all of your 7th grade core classes. You will be able to use your points for rewards like extra credit, Pirate Bucks, or dropping a low quiz grade. Parents and students may access Live School at home by using the access codes attached (or distributed at registration).
SOCIAL MEDIA
I will post on social media as frequently as possible to communicate classroom, school, and activity updates. You can follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook @msroylse. I will use these social media tools to share information with parents and students in an efficient way. However, if you need to contact me, you can e-mail or call me using the information below.
