Over the course of the summer of 2023 and my first year, I explored the many niches of science that interested me, from mushrooms to particles. In the end, my love for physics won me over, and I took interest in the sPHENIX particle detector at Brookhaven National Labs through my amazing mentor, Skadi Grossberndt.
