Reflection:
As I listened to the other leap groups presented I noticed the groups with stronger presentations had main key components that made their mini research project more engaging and entertaining. The group that did " Barbie " was very engaging to listen to because of the intriguing topic but also their ability to stay on topic and focus on major worldwide problems that the audience could relate to such as girls' body image issues. Additionally, other presenters who were charismatic and sounded confident in what they were sharing with us were also very engaging. Asking questions and using statistics made the presenters seem more reliable and factual.
Reflection on Moth Story:
My Moth story was the story of how a girl in my Capstone class and I became friends in seventh grade, how our friendship ended, and where we find ourselves now, with the moral of the story being that forgiveness and kindness are always key.
Overall, I believe that our intentions in the way we wanted to tell our story were excellent. The whole point of our story is that we wanted everyone to always practice forgiveness in their lives and without it, holding a grudge will only darken one's spirit. However, I believe that we were not prepared enough and the vulnerability of being so honest with our peers caught me off guard the moment I stood up in front of everyone.
I hope that I can learn from this and hopefully grow my confidence and public speaking abilities to achieve the stage presence I truly want. Public speaking and giving presentations have always been a difficulty of mine as my anxiety tends to take over in these moments. Knowing that this class contained one of my biggest fears, I decided to take it anyway in hopes of overcoming it and gaining confidence.
