In this class students will learn to plan/organize all aspects of different types of events. This includes food, location and decor associated with the event. This class will teach students how to meet the needs of their clients while planning the events activities, establishing the budget, figuring out the theme, getting the guest list together, getting a location, developing a schedule, transportation needs, staff, staging the event, room and space requirements, providing technology and equipment, food and beverage services and much more!
In this class students will learn about the impact of daily nutrition and wellness practices to help with long term health. They will learn about physical, social, and psychological aspects of healthy nutrition choices. They will get to make nutritious snacks and meals based on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) dietary guidelines and food guide pyramid. This class will also go over safety, storage, sanitation and recycling processes and issues associated with nutrition ad wellness; impacts of science and tech on nutrition issues; nutrition and wellness career paths.
In this class students will learn skills needed to own and operate a business. This will go over employee management, owner right/responsibilites, financial planning, and communication skills. Students taking this class will get the chance to plan their own business dealing with FACS or a career related business of their own.
In this class student will learn about all aspects of clothing. They will get to learn about the selection and caring aspects of clothing and accessories for people throughout lifespans.
In this class students will learn what retail, fashion and marketing is like. They will learn the principles and practices needed for this field. During the course it will introduce students to the retail industry, including the fundamentals of fashion marketing, key marketing concepts, types of businesses involved in the industry, the economics and different career opportunities.
This is a 3rd year class that is student ran. In order to join this class you will have to complete 2 other classes in the FACS program. This class the teacher will give you projects and you have to complete them in the given time. You will also be given the chance to job shadow and go to state.
